We bought a house that has weathered vinyl siding, can we just paint over it or will it have to be replaced?
Benjamin Moore says that by applying paint to vinyl siding it improves its durability and is actually even less labor intensive than painting wood, masonry, or hardboard surfaces. Because the siding doesn’t retain moisture it’s easy to clean and dries quickly.
Like any other painting project, clean the existing vinyl siding thoroughly, but priming may not be necessary unless there are pitted or porous areas on your house. Then use a paint specifically formulated for optimal performance on vinyl siding.
